Temporary Downtime

To our listener,

Unfortunately no new episode yet with this post.  Just wanted to keep everyone in the loop.  Going on a couple weeks ago, Alex and I were in the middle of recording a new episode when our mixer suddenly decided it no longer wanted to work.  At first we tried to get it replaced thinking it was under warranty, then we tried to get it fixed, but the cost would not have been worth it (think paying $3000 in car repairs for a car that’s only worth $1500).  Now we’ve settled on just getting a new one which we are being incredibly slow about doing.  What terrible podcasters we are!  We could record an episode using our old method, but the quality is already bad enough using this one, why ask our listener to suffer through another episode of static and buzzing?

We will have another episode up in the next week or two!  As a teaser we are doing Saves The Day’s second full length album Through Being Cool in celebration of it’s 15th anniversary (which will be long past by the time you hear the episode).

New inside jokes and emo music album reviews coming soon!

Episode 6 – We Are The Only Friends We Have

Have you ever wondered how this podcast and a power hour are similar?  How about what yelly music played at 11am sounds like? Or what happens when you go to a concert expecting two guys talking and all you get is music?  Have no fear because in this episode, we explore all these topics and more as we take a listen to another 10 year old alt rock album, this time from the Boston-area group Piebald.  Hope you enjoy!

Episode 5 – Wide Eyed

Let’s take a stroll down a semi-synth pop road with “Wide Eyed” from The Junior Varsity.  Strange song titles and even stranger lyrics surround this band’s sup catchy music.  We also relive our old days being an integral part of the BBZ hardcore scene.  Hope you enjoy!

Episode 3 – Therapy Session

3 episodes in and we’ve already broken the format we established for ourselves.  One of us turned 30 on the day this episode was recorded and was in the midst of a temporary existential crisis and needed to talk about it for an hour and a half.  Can you guess which one?!  We’ll be back with more album specific episodes after this.  Enjoy!

Episode 2 – “In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth: 3”

To quote the great Dave Dameshek, hi and hello, podcasters.  We’ve decided to take a listen to and talk about Coheed’s second album In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth: 3 before we begin to venture out into new genres.  If you thought the first episode was nerdy, you ain’t heard nothing yet.  Hope you enjoy!

Looking ahead, there will be an episode we’ve dubbed the therapy session episode as well as a look at Hopesfall’s “first” album The Satellite Years.

Episode 1 – “The Second Stage Turbine Blade”

We’ve started off on this journey by taking a crack at the first album released by the prog-rock Rush-wannabe group Coheed and Cambria entitled The Second Stage Turbine Blade.  As with any new project, we are going to have some growing pains.  The audio quality in this first episode is well below par, but that is something we have already improved on in subsequent episodes.  Thanks in advance for your patience as we figure out what we’re doing.  Perhaps the pretentious opinions and horrible puns and inside jokes from two guys who have no idea what they are talking about will be enough to keep you listening.  Hopefully soon we will get these up on iTunes, but for now you can download episode 1 below.

So it begins.

Well, you’ve managed to wander onto our site. You lucky duck.

Welcome to OneMoreSong, a podcast from the McIntosh brothers! The genesis of this project is covered in our first episode (which you should go listen to once its posted, instead of reading this), but the bare-basic frame is that we’ll cover an album each episode that falls under the theme of the season. Loosely adhering to a track-by-track reviewing structure, we wander in and out of tangents and just generally see where the episode takes us.

There is no set update schedule as of yet, but we are in the process of completing the first few episodes of season 1. Stay tuned for updates!
